HAL WAYNE SIGURDSON

September 28, 1949 - January 7, 2026

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Hal Wayne Sigurdson on January 7, 2026.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Janis (Nee Weatherburn), sons, Darren (Michelle) and Bryan (Becky), cherished grandchildren, Lexa, Lucy, Fletcher and Andie, and goddaughter Becky. He is remembered by his brothers, Ray, Ken (Peggy), and Terry (Angeline), and sister Cindy (Floyd) Thorkelson, along with brother-in-law Larry (Marlene) Weatherburn, sisters-in-law, Kim Wiebe and Wanda Zasitko, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hal’s life revolved around his family, his business, and his community (and not necessarily in that order!). If you ever had the pleasure of visiting him at the shop, you’d remember his unique sense of customer service, the smell of popcorn, and his trail of scattered bubblegum wrappers. Hal spent many hours enjoying hockey games, watching his grandchildren play various sports, and being the self-appointed beer manager of the Lundar Falcons. He was always focused on his family, but to be honest, he should have directed a little of that focus to the road!

During his years of retirement, Hal made many trips across the back lane to visit his Napa Girls, always coming back with a huge smile on his face. He also spent countless hours visiting with old friends for a card game or coffee; he went to make their day, but really, it made his day even better. In recent years, his adopted beach family looked after him, taking him on all sorts of adventures and along the way they even helped him realize that beer tastes better at the lake!

He put his heart and soul into Lundar, volunteering on countless boards and organizations. His fingerprints are all over this community, and his legacy will live on in each and every one of them.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Shannon Granberg, Michael Stoyanowski, and Scott Ward for their assistance and efforts on January 7, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Lundar Legion Hall. Private interment to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coldwell Lundar Community Foundation, Box 154, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0, or a charity of your choice.
